Locked Up in a Foreign Country was started in 2008 out of a necessity to bring awareness to all South Africans.
For the purpose of legitimacy we are a registered Section 21 Company, officially known as
LOCKED UP - 2nd CHANCES FOR SA's INMATES - Section 21 Reg No: 2008/011461/08.
This work is not done in the name of God or any religion or any spiritual entity and we do not seek fame or recognition for any individual. The sole intention expressed in the Locked Up campaign is a
basic humanitarian one for the many South Arican citizens who have fallen into this trap. We do not condemn or judge and our fight is not about innocence or guilt, however we do expect honesty from
all those we assist. We have no interest in assisting repeat offenders or liars whether controlled by addiction or otherwise. When a person's life hits rock bottom there has to be a time of honesty
and a genuine desire to heal. Help is available.
We trust you will find this website informative.
COURT
CASE
An application was brought against the Government of South Africa for its failure to consider our request that the Government enter into a Prisoner Exchange
Agreement with the Government of Mauritius, alternatively to provide sufficient reasons for its decision to not do so. The application was heard on the 29 and 30 March 2010.
While this application is specific to the South Africans detained in Mauritius, if successful this will open the door for all our citizens held in foreign prisons around the world. The
devastation and trauma this causes the families is tremendous.
South Africa is one of only two countries worldwide without such an agreement. We're calling for the return of more than 1200 SA citizens arrested in foreign countries to serve their sentences, under
extradition, on home soil AND for the DEPORTATION of TENS OF THOUSANDS of FOREIGNERS being supported by OUR TAX MONEY.
April 2010.
The case has been heard and has been reserved for judgement. This could take up to 3 months so please keep in touch with us for further information about the outcome. |
